Annual parents meeting plus 2 hours volunteer credit!

Attention Janesville Youth Hockey Families,

Please save the date!  On September 16th, JYH will be holding the annual Parent’s Meeting.  We will be trying a new concept this year to improve the overall process.  Notable changes include :

  • the meeting will be held at the Janesville Ice Arena
  • there will be several sessions broken down by age group
  • there will be a number of stations to complete the entire process in one day

Consistent with the last two years, each family that attends will be credited with two hours of volunteer credit for the club.

There will be three sessions offered that will attempt to tailor the information based on the age level of the skater.  You do NOT need to attend each session.  It is recommended you attend the session based on the oldest skater. The times of the meetings are:

2pm – Bantams and Peewees.  Focus will be on fees, volunteer hour expectations, new policies.

3pm – Squirts and RWB/Mites.  Focus will be on fees, volunteer hour expectations, new policies, tournaments, equipment.

4pm – In House, U6 Travel, Intro to Hockey.  Focus will be on hockey options, club expectations, equipment, and general questions.

After each session, we will have a number of stations set up to help complete the registration process, including the following:

  1. Registration:  registration help, collection of forms (medical release, code of conduct, social media release, etc.)
  2. Financial booth: collection of payments (credit card, check or cash), information on the club scholarship/reduced fee program
  3. Fundraising:  Pick up Jets tickets and learn about other upcoming fundraisers
  4. Volunteer hours:  sign off that you understand the commitment, assistance with creating accounts, learning how to sign up for events
  5. Hockey Development Committee:  coach recruitment, referee recruitment, discuss try out process
  6. JYH Apparel from MMPR:  we hope to have a display of new apparel with the new club logo and help with ordering apparel
  7. Concession stand training:  how equipment works, how to clean the area, use of registers and new square credit card process, as well as the overall expectations
  8. Jerseys:  sizing of jerseys, assignment of numbers
  9. Socks:  sale of the club hockey socks
  10. Equipment Handout:  handout, deposit collection, demonstrations on how to put equipment on
  11. Equipment Sale/Swap:  opportunity to sell your old used equipment or buy others equipment
  12. Ice Schedule:  opportunity to review the projected ice schedule in terms of dates/times of practices
  13. Team Manager Recruitment:  what the role is, volunteer hour credit, as well as expectations
  14. Skate Sharpening: we hope to have a booth regarding options to get skates sharpened, potentially on site that day
  15. Janesville Jets:  learn about how the Jets partner with JYH, billeting of players

Finally, starting at 6 pm, we will again be doing the Hockey Lock-In for skaters 10 and under.  The club will host a fun filled night for our younger skaters including a pizza party, and various on ice games.  Make sure the skaters are fully dressed in their hockey equipment.  For skaters younger than 7, we recommend parents pick them up by 8:30 pm.  There will be a sign in table to drop the skaters off, please make sure to provide a phone number where you can be reached in the event we need to contact you.    Or you can register online here.

We're excited for the opportunity to get this all done in one shot.  See you at the ice arena!
