Open Board Positions:

Are you looking for an opportunity to help the Janesville Youth Hockey Club?  The Janesville Youth Hockey Club is looking for members who are committed to helping the Club grow and plan for the future by serving on the Club’s Board of Directors.  Volunteering as a Board Member is your opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the Club. The Board of Directors meets once per month and you will have the opportunity to join one of the many committees focused on improving the Club.  The Board is looking to fill three positions.  A board term is for three years, and all past and present members are able to run for the Board of Directors. If you are interested, please send a short bio (with photo) to Steve Hirn at by February 3, 2020.  Voting for new Board Members will start on February 10th.

Hockey Development Director


The JYH Board of Directors will appoint a Hockey Development Director (HDD) in April 2020, who will serve a three-year term commencing in April 2020.  The HDD may be removed by a 2/3 vote by the Board of Directors.  

The HDD coordinates all JYH Hockey Development Committee (HDC) meetings (a minimum of 8per year) and oversees all hockey operations and player development programs/curriculums administered by the HDC, WAHA and USA Hockey.

The HDD reports verbally, and in writing, monthly to the JYH Board of Directors on all aspects of HDC actions and recommendations. 

The HDD coordinates all end-of-season team reports, coaches' surveys and planning, and shall appoint and supervise the JYH Head Referee with Board approval.


The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: 

  • Ability to continuously display high standards of ethics, honesty, integrity, and dependability. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision making and problem-solving expertise. 
  • Ability to work as a team member with others on the HDC and the JYH Board of Directors.


  • Attend, at a minimum, one practice for all teams, at least monthly during the season.
  • Provide clear goals and objectives for player and coach development with regulate updates.
  • Ensure that the HDC organizes and develops workshop and on-ice clinics for coaches before and during the season.
  • Communicate to players, parents and coaches WAHA and USA Hockey player and coaching development opportunities.
  • Understand and help disseminate resources and support materials from the WAHA website and USA Hockey website.
  • Make recommendations on new resources and information needed to drive the acceptance and success of hockey development at the JYH level.
