Intro to Hockey
This is an introductory program for young children (at least four years old) that have little skating experience. These new players are instructed on skating fundamentals and introduced to the game of hockey with fun and engaging practices. Skaters are on the ice one session per week with nothing scheduled for holiday weekends.

Janesville Ice Arena
Practices
Spring and Summer Session: Wednesday nights. Session 1 from 5-5:50pm and Session 2 from 5:50-6:40pm. Players will be assigned a session after registration.
Fall Session: Saturday mornings, times TBA.
Equipment
Equipment is available to be rented. Once registered, JYH equipment chair will schedule an equipment handout prior to the start of each session.
Jerseys
Each registered player will receive a complimentary practice jersey that can be kept by each player at the conclusion of the session
Extra Costs
All players must have a valid USA Hockey number to register. A link to obtain a USA Hockey number is available during registration. This is a national requirement and is for insurance purposes.
Learn To Skate Program
JYH strongly encourages any new hockey players to take ice skating lessons prior to trying hockey. This helps ensure kids have a more positive experience learning to play hockey. The Learn To Skate program is not affiliated with JYH.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my Intro to Hockey player need to know how to ice skate in order to sign up? It is not required but it is highly encouraged that Intro to Hockey players have some ice skating experience.
Can I go out on the ice with my hockey player? JYH encourages volunteer coaches. JYH asks that any person wishing to go out on the ice with their hockey player know how to ice skate. If you wish to go out on the ice with your hockey player, you will need your own helmet and ice skates. JYH does not provide helmets and ice skates for on ice volunteers. Helmets are required and no exceptions are made per USA Hockey rules.

Intro starts April 3rd and is every Wednesday until May 8th

Intro and U6 will be divided up into two sessions. Session 1 will be from 5-5:50pm and Session 2 will be from 5:50-6:40pm. Players will be assigned a session after registration.
