Annual JYH Coaching Clinic

Prospective JYH Coaches and On Ice Helpers,

The 2025-26 JYH season is right around the corner. If you are interested in coaching or helping out on the ice this season, please click on the dates below to sign up for the JYH Coaching Clinic. The clinic this year is a two part event that will be offered over three nights. The first two nights are the off ice portions of the clinic. You only need to attend one of the two off ice nights of the clinic. The third night is an optional on ice portion of the clinic. I highly recommend attending the optional on ice clinic if you are able. However, if you cannot attend either of the off ice clinics, you will need to attend the on ice clinic to get credit for the coaching clinic requirement.

Off Ice Coaching Clinic

The first two nights of the coaching clinic will be held in a classroom format. The following items will be covered:

• New USA Hockey coaching portal
• USA Hockey certifications and coaching requirements
• Safesport
• Concussion education
• JYH Player Development Model updates
• 2025-26 season outlook
• Latest USA Hockey and WAHA rule changes
• Guest speakers

Dates, times, location, and details of the first two nights of the coaching clinic are as follows:

• Wednesday September 3rd, 2025 and Thursday September 4th, 2025
• 6pm-8pm
• Janesville Country Club
• Food and beverages provided
• Cash bar available
• Coaching handouts and materials provided
• Cost: FREE

On Ice Coaching Clinic

The third nigh of the coaching clinic will be the on ice portion. Below is the information for the on ice coaching clinic:

• Lennie Childs of the Janesville Jets will be the guest instructor
• Attendance is optional, provided you attended one of the two off ice clinics
• Location: Woodmans Center
• Date: Sunday September 21st, 2025
• Time: 6pm-8pm
• Cost: FREE
• Items to Bring: skates, helmet, gloves, stick

If you are interested in coaching or being an on ice helper, please sign up for the sessions you are able to attend. Reminder, you only need to sign up for 1 of the 2 classroom nights on September 3rd or 4th. The on ice portion is optional, provided you have attended one of the classroom sessions. If you cannot attend either of the classroom sessions, please sign up for the on ice session. If you cannot attend any of the sessions and still wish to coach or help out on the ice, you will need to make other arrangements with me.

Coaching and on ice helpers are a great way to obtain the mandatory volunteer hours required for JYH families. Whether you have coached in the past or are new to coaching, we need all the help we can get in order to ensure a successful season for our players. The JYH Hockey Development Committee and JYH Board looks forward to another great hockey season. We encourage anyone interested in helping out on the ice to do so. We will work hard to make sure everyone has an opportunity to help out with the JYH organization. The more people willing to pitch in, the better experience our kids will have playing hockey in Janesville.
